Duties:A veterinarian assistant provides basic care for animals recovering from injuries and/or surgery. Assistants clean, disinfect and maintain cages. They provide emergency first aid to animals that are injured or sick. They may take and develop x-rays as well as perform diagnostic procedures. They mainly help animals who are sick.

Education: Veterinarian Education Requirements. Veterinarians are required to complete a four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program in addition to undergraduate school. These professionals are also required to obtain license to practice in the profession.
