An astronaut is someone who goes into outer space and go to different planets. Time slows down when someone is in outer space that is why It doesn't look like they have aged in appearance but they were gone for a long time.The first human in space was Soviet Yuri Gagarin, who was launched on April 12, 1961 and orbited around the Earth for 108 minutes. The first woman in space was Soviet Valentina Tereshkova, who launched on June 16, 1963 and orbited Earth for almost three days. They are trained to command pilot or be a crew member of the spacecraft.
